Pencil drawing by Alan Bell. THE DRAWING SHOWS THE EXTREMES BETWEEN BOYHOOD AND THE ADULT MAN…REVEALED IN THE WHOLE MAKE UP OF SEXUAL REPRODUCTION AND PLEASURE, DESIRE AND DREAD, HUNGER AND APPREHENSION. THINGS HAPPENED IN MY CHILDHOOD WHICH LEAD TO A FALL FROM GRACE, HENCE THE TEAR AND THE FALLING FIGURE IN THE BOYS FACE.WITHIN THE BRAIN OF THE MAN’S FACE IN THE UPPER PART OF THE DRAWING IS A TRAIL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE WAY AND MEANING OF SEX AND LIFE, MORALITY AND INDULGENCE, PLEASURE, PAIN, AND conscience, THE KNOWLEDGE OF ONES OWN DOINGS. THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE ZONE IS CONFRONTED BY DEATH AND DESIRE AND THE CHALLENGE OF LOVING BEYOND POSSESSING. ALAN
